My Practice

From the moment you walk into my office, I want you to feel like you have a time and a place that is comfortable and inviting just for you. Come in, make yourself a cup of tea or water and take a moment to breathe and perhaps regroup. Self-care begins here.

My office is located in Bath, Ohio, across the street from Gasoline Alley and a few blocks from Bath Community Park and towpath trail. After we have established our counseling focus, you will have the option of meeting in my office, or we can take advantage of the walking trails in the nearby parks. The choice is yours, the option exists.

What To Expect In Sessions

Your first session will consist of you and I getting to know each other. It is important to check in with yourself and make sure that you feel heard and understood. Being a good fit for one another is one of the best indicators that therapy will be effective. I want to hear about your history, your reason for coming to counseling now and your goals for treatment. We will discuss confidentiality, realistic expectations and treatment options. This first session can sometimes go by quickly, so we might pick up where we left off during our second visit.

Your third session is when we will likely begin our work together. I like to work collaboratively, with you deciding what your goals are for therapy and with me offering suggestions, techniques or experiments at home that might help you reach those goals. If something is not working for you, however, please speak up so we can make changes that will work better for you.

My goal is to help you develop insight and skills that will help you face whatever your life is presenting you both now and in the future. You will likely spend 8-12 weekly sessions digging deep into your present concern. Periodically, we will evaluate how you are doing, if we have accomplished your goals or if your goals need to be altered. As we get closer to reaching your therapy goals, we can begin to meet less frequently. Ideally, we will have a closing session to summarize your progress, recall learned skills and say goodbye.

Billing Information

Payment is due at the time of service. I accept cash, check, debit or credit card and HSA.

I have chosen not to work with insurance companies as I have found that many of the issues that are presented in counseling are not considered “Medical Conditions” that are billable to insurance.

As an Out of Network provider (OON), I can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. You will want to check with your insurance company to determine what, if any, reimbursement options they have, and what they wish you to submit.

Appointments And Cancellations

As a self-employed person, helping clients in therapy sessions is how I make my living. It is important to me that I give you 100% of my time and attention. If you find you are unable to make your appointment time, I require 24-hour advance notice for a cancellation. This can help me fill your time slot with another person who is waiting. If you do not cancel in a timely manner, you will be charged the full amount for the missed appointment. An exception may be made if you can reschedule and attend another appointment within the same week, or for a true emergency. Three cancellations without 24-hour advance notice will result in my inability to schedule you again.

Change can begin to happen when we both commit to our time together, which is exactly why I am committed to you and to helping you grow.
